Where Are We


Lake Summerset residents enjoy easy access to local communities. We are a short drive away from the region’s top notch medical facilities including Rockford, Beloit, Freeport, Monroe, UW Madison and the Middleton VA Hospital. Two award winning school districts share the school children of this area. Durand School District was named the Highest Achieving School in Northern IL and Dakota School District boasts graduation and college acceptance rates above the state average.

 

The local communities of Dakota and Durand have friendly, small-town businesses including a full service grocer, a medical clinic, and restaurants that welcome Lake Summerset residents. There is also easy access to shopping and entertainment in Rockford, Madison and Galena. Lake Summerset is a hassle-free 90-minute drive from the NW Suburbs of Chicago and is an hour south of Madison, Wisconsin.

 

 

Amenities

Members and their guests can fish, ski or relax on the water at Lake Summerset. Warm weather months bring power, fishing and pontoon boats to the 275-acre lake for fun in the sun.

Two onsite marinas, 40 parks for recreation, playgrounds, pools and a spray park for our younger members, as well as a 75-site campground are available for members to enjoy at their leisure.

When old man winter comes to visit, our outdoor activities begin and include ice-fishing, sledding, cross country skiing and excellent access to snowmobile trails. For those looking for indoor fun the social scene at LSA is also abundant with clubs, organizations and family events year-round.

Activities

 

Residents of Lake Summerset can be as relaxed or as active as they wish in this year-round retreat. We provide a multitude of on and off the lake activities for members and their guests. Bocce, tennis, pickle ball and disc golf are available as well as a community garden, dog park and playgrounds for outside adventures. Social clubs are available for almost every hobby you can think of from arts to yachts and include fishing, gardening and quilting groups to join.

  • How many lots/houses are at Lake Summerset?

    Currently, there are 2,300 lots with 1,350 individual homes. The population of Lake Summerset is approximately 2,600 people.

  • When was Lake Summerset established?

    The Lake was built with plans approved by the Corp of Engineers and opened on May 7th, 1969. The lake was turned over to the Lake Summerset Association on May 8th, 1973.

  • How do I find lots for sale at Lake Summerset?

    Lists of lots and houses for sale at Lake Summerset can be obtained from any realtor. Regardless of the number of owners on deed, the HOA will only recognize one household for membership.

  • How big a motor can I have on my boat at Lake Summerset? What kind of boats are on LS?

    Fishing, power, pontoons and sailboats all share Lake Summerset but must follow the rules below.

    • Current State registration in member's name and displayed on boat.
    • The maximum length for power/fishing boats 18’, pontoon boats 20’ per State Watercraft registration, and sail boats 20'.
    • The maximum HP for pontoon boats is 90 H.P. providing such motor meets or exceeds the C.A.R.B. 2008 rating(three star rating)
    • The maximum H.P. for power boats is 90 H.P. providing such motor meets or exceeds the C.A.R.B. 2008 rating(three star rating)
    • The maximum H.P. for fishing boats is 90 H.P. providing such motor meets or exceeds the C.A.R.B. 2008 rating(three star rating)
  • Are there campground facilities at Lake Summerset?

    There is a campground that provides showers, restrooms, and electrical hookups and playground for its users. To use the campgrounds, you have to be a Lake Summerset lot/homeowner. Campground facilities are available to members and their guests. The member fee is $2 per night for electrical sites / $1 per night for non-electric sites. The guest fee is $6 per night for electrical sites / $3 per night for non-electric sites. See Camp Ground Regulations for complete information.

  • Does the lake have cable and satellite high speed internet service?

    Yes, cable, satellite dish, and line of sight are the choices for residents.

  • Does Lake Summerset have cabins or short time rentals?

    Lake Summerset is a community of single family homes. It does not have cabins or short time rentals.

  • Does Lake Summerset have beach access and pool facilities?

    Lake Summerset has two beaches with bath facilities and lifeguards in season. Lake Summerset also has a swimming pool with on-duty lifeguards during the summer month. A new spray park was added to the pool area in 2014 for small children. The swimming pool has changing rooms and rest rooms for the convenience of our members and their guests.

  • What other amenities are available at Lake Summerset?

    Disc golf, pickle ball courts, tennis courts, bocce ball courts, a community garden, dog park and multiple playgrounds are available at Lake Summerset.
