PLEASE return all undersize fish back into the lake including small bluegills. Above limits subject to change anytime due to conditions.

  • Fishing is limited to two (2) rods, two (2) lines, with two (2) hooks per line. $100 minimum fine and loss of LSA fishing permit for possessing live minnows, leeches, crabs or other baitfish - DEAD OR ALIVE! Worms and certified VHS free, labeled, factory packaged, preserved baits are okay. $50 fine per fish for possessing undersized fish or over daily limit.
  • A valid Illinois fishing license MUST BE ON YOUR PERSON WHEN FISHING, unless under the age of 16, handicapped, or in the military (on leave). Property owners and junior members should be in possession of an LSA member card.
  • All Illinois fishing regulations must be observed in addition to LSA regulations.
  • All guests fishing alone must have in possesion a $5 daily, $10 3-day, or $50 Annual LSA Fishing permit.
  • Guests who are fishing with the welcoming member are not required to have a permit but are limited to the aggregate limit with the member.
  • Unattended lines are prohibited at all times.
  • Member or guests must not trespass on private lots unless given permission by the property owners. Respect property and be careful with hooks and lures when fishing near private boats, piers, and beaches.
  • Fishing in the swimming areas such as Beach #1 or Beach #2 is strictly prohibited.
  • No set line or trot lines are allowed on the lake.
  • No netting or seining of fish or minnows is allowed.
  • Lake littering violations (Minimum $25) regardless of area violated - water, ice, or land.

No guest boats allowed. However, a property owner may borrow a boat if he does not have one of the same kind, by obtaining a temporary registration form approved by the LSA office. If applied for after hours, the guardhouse may approve a temporary registration provided that a copy of the Illinois State Watercraft card is supplied along with a copy of liability insurance if HP is10 and over. The member must be in the boat at all times when it is in use. The temporary registration must be turned into the office or guardhouse when the boat leaves the lake. The office will keep this registration on file for the current season only. Renewals must be reapplied for.

From December 1 until April 30, from official sunset to sunrise, a guest ice fisherman must be accompanied by the welcoming member and must possess a Lake Summerset fishing permit. The guest may fish alone in his/her ice shelter, but must be in speaking distance (max 40 yards) of the member. All ice fishing shelters must have the owner's name and address on them and must be removed from the ice every night.
