December 2007 Security Corner Newsletter By Janet Wise - Security Director As the holidays are fast approaching. please make sure you get guest passes in before your guests arrive. Also, make sure that all guests are listed on your pass. Remember guests cannot invite guests - only members can. SNOWPLOWING: The maintenance department has asked me to put the following in my article: With the winter months upon us, we all need to be reminded of our snow removal policies The snow removal crews put in long hours and a lot of time keeping our roads passable for the membership. Please remember that snow from driveways, sidewalks and mailbox area is not to be spread out into the road-ways. Please respect the snowplow crews and help keep our roadways clear. Remember too, do not pull out in front of a snowplow, it takes them much longer to come to a stop than us. Do not drive directly behind the plow, as salt may fall onto your vehicle. LEAF BLOWING/BURNING: Remember at Lake Summerset you cannot burn leaves. You must also remember that you cannot blow leaves onto neighboring properties. FUNDS NEEDED: At the security committee meeting Wed of November, guest speaker Ed KOELLING attended to discuss the Davis Fire Departments interest in starting a certified rescue dive team. They are considering this because they believe that having them so close, they would have a better chance of saving a life with a successful rescue. Time is an important factor in rescuing a person who has gone under in the water. Rescue divers in our area would increase chances of survival for the victim. Having a dive team as close as Davis would get divers in the water within minutes. Unfortunately, the Davis fire department is a volunteer organization with limited monies. Mr. Koelling gave us the cost for equipment and class for each person. Mr. Koelling also stated that there has to be a minimum of persons in a rescue dive boat, the total of persons being 4. The cost for equipment and classes per person is approximately $3700.00. Anyone who is interested in helping may contact the Davis Fire Department. THE SECURITY STAFF wishes you and yours a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR. If you have any questions concerning any subject in this article, feel free to call the security department at 248-2194 extension 224 and ask for Janet. The security guard house is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day to report any complaints or suspicious activity. The emergency number is 248-2778.
