Security Corner | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
December 2009 Security Corner Newsletter By Janet Wise - Security Director The Lake Summerset Security Department would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Safe and Happy New Year. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH: I want to thank the Neighborhood Watch Group of LSA for doing an outstanding job. Since the start of Neighborhood Watch Group, many members have joined and helped to assist security in deterring vandalism and thefts. Volunteers from the group have assisted on weekends and holidays to be extra eyes for security. Anyone who wants to join but hasn’t yet can contact Marje Jindra. or attend a Neighborhood Watch meeting. PASSES: Whether you call-in or drop-off a guest pass, please be sure to give the first and last name of your guest. CARBON
MONOXIDE DETECTORS: What to do if your carbon monoxide detector
goes off. The first thing is to get out of your home, then call 911. The
sooner you leave your home the less carbon monoxide you will inhale. When
the fire department arrives they will use a meter to locate where the
carbon monoxide is coming from. SNOW REMOVAL: When you are in your driveway facing the road, please push snow to the right of your driveway. This way when the snowplow goes past your drive they will be pushing the snow away from your drive, instead of into it. To avoid a safety hazard, do not push or blow snow from your driveway into the road, especially after the roads have been cleared. Members, you should also notify your contracted snow removal company to advise them of these concerns. THE DAM: A reminder that the slope of the dam (the grassy side) is off limits to sledding, walking, sliding or any other activity. Anyone looking for a sledding area can find one at Harting Park Shelter area and the quarry park. SNOWMOBILES: Reminder to all snowmobile operators: open lots are off limits to snowmobiles, unless you have permission from the lot owner to cross their properties. Every year Security gets numerous complaints that snowmobiles are driving on open lots and sometimes on homeowner’s lots. There have also been incidents where snowmobiles have damaged property (trees, lawns, etc). So please respect your fellow lot/home owners and stay off their property. ABANDONED VEHICLES: If you have an abandoned or unlicensed vehicle in your driveway or yard, you are subject to a citation. Redbook page 8 Section C 4 (b): Undriveable and/or unlicensed vehicles may not be parked for storage outdoors on member lots in LSA. Section C 4 (c): Vehicles undergoing repair may not be parked outdoors on member lots for more than seven consecutive days If you have any questions concerning any subject in this article, feel free to call the security department at 248-2194 extension 224 and ask for Janet. The security guard house is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day to report any complaints or suspicious activity. The emergency number is 248-2778.
