January 2008 Security Corner Newsletter
By Janet Wise - Security Director

I hope every one enjoyed the holidays and were all safe and warm. I guess now we all have to get used to writing 2008 on all our checks. If you’re like me it takes me a couple of weeks to get used to the idea.

GARBAGE: Just a reminder to everyone that the construction dumpsters are not for public use. You cannot dump your personal garbage in these dumpsters. The contractors pay $350 dollars or more for construction material only to be dumped in these dumpsters. If you are a weekender or permanent resident there are garbage stickers available at the guardhouse or office. Weekenders should purchase these stickers and make arrangements with a neighbor or call the garbage company to dispose of your garbage the proper way.

DRIVING: Remember to drive with caution and at a slower rate of speed when weather conditions are unfavorable.

NEW DATA SHEETS: By now many of you have received new data sheets to fill out. One of the forms is your red pass/amenity /contractor sheets. Do take the time to check these sheets over and make any necessary corrections to them. These sheets must be returned by March 1, 2008. Return them even if you made no changes as they will not be renewed automatically.

PARKING: Parking along the roadsides during the winter is not allowed. Snowplows must have access to road surfaces and places to push snow. When cars park along the roadside clearing the road becomes difficult. If you have an emergency situation and have to park along the road you must call the guardhouse and let them know. This will assist snowplowers from hitting your vehicle. You must also remove that vehicle from the roadside within 24 hours.

SNOWMOBILES: Any snowmobile that belongs to a member of LSA that travels on LSA property must Register that snowmobile with the LSA Office. You must have proof of insurance and then you must display your lot number and decal on this vehicle.

Guest snowmobiles must enter and exit at the main gate. Guest snowmobiles must have a pass to enter, must be accompanied by the member hosting them, and must go the most direct route to that member’s home only.

NO SNOWMOBILE can operate on empty lots, LSA green areas (parks, quarry, etc). Some of these so-called empty lots have newly planted trees; etc on them and snowmobiles will damage them. Remember empty lots belong to dues paying members and you must have permission from the member to drive on them.

Last year we had many complaints that snowmobiles would drive across the end of members driveways and cause marks on their drives. Remember to respect other member’s property when operating your snowmobile.

If you have any questions concerning any subject in this article, feel free to call the security department at 248-2194 extension 224 and ask for Janet.

The security guard house is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day to report any complaints or suspicious activity. The emergency number is 248-2778.
