July 2008 Security Corner Newsletter By Janet Wise - Security Director 4th of July: The LSA Security Department wishes everyone a safe and Happy 4th of July. FIREWORKS: Page 25 of the LSA REDBOOK Section L. 5 states “No firearms, BB guns, pellet guns, fireworks, slingshots or other missile hurling devises may be discharged in LSA.” Remember fireworks are dangerous and illegal. Unauthorized persons shooting fireworks pose a danger to both property and people. If you are caught using fireworks you will be issued a citation. SUMMERFEST: Another year of LS Summer festivities is approaching us. To make sure we have a safe and incident free event, please use caution when driving and watch for pedestrians walking along roadsides. Remember; at LSA, pedestrians have the right of way. Pier Drive behind the dam will be closed to traffic during the fireworks display. THEFTS: We are still experiencing thefts from homes and vehicles at LSA. Both the Stephenson and Winnebago County Sheriffs departments are working hard to solve these crimes. A reward is being offered which totals $2000 dollars. $500 from LSA and $1500 from a private citizen. This reward will be paid for information leading to the arrest and conviction of guilty parties. Until this happens, make sure you do not leave any thing of value in your vehicle and keep your garage door and house doors secure. DECALS: If you do not have current LSA Decals displayed on your car, unlicensed motor vehicle or boat you are subject to a citation. Decals are available at the LSA Office if your dues are current. If you have any questions concerning any subject in this article, feel free to call the security department at 248-2194 extension 224 and ask for Janet. The security guard house is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day to report any complaints or suspicious activity. The emergency number is 248-2778.
