DOGS: REDBOOK page 25 Section L 7 states: No animals shall be regularly kept or maintained on any lot in Lake Summerset except the household pets and these pets must not be allowed to roam. No pets are permitted in the Lodge or in the pool and beach areas and all pets in other public areas must be on a leash. All stray pets should be reported to the LSA office or security gate.

Security has been receiving numerous complaints of dogs running loose. All members with pets should make sure your pet is leashed or contained at all times.

SERVICE PROVIDERS: All service providers must be on a pass to gain entry to your home. Make sure that you have a pass on file for them. If you have a service provider that comes to your home regularly, then you can put them on an extended pass form and they will be allowed to your home for up to a year.

GARAGE SALE WEEKEND: The annual Lake Summerset Garage Sales will be May 16th and 17th this year. On Friday May 16th the sales will not be open to the public, but just for members and their guests. On Saturday May 17th the sales will be open to the public. Remember that during this time, there will be a lot of vehicles parked along the road and much people traffic to watch out for.

BOAT STORAGE: When you remove your boat from the storage area, please remember to remove any tires, cement/wood blocks, etc. from that site. This will enable maintenance to maintain the area and keep this area presentable.

MEMORIAL WEEKEND: May 24-26th is memorial weekend. If you are having guests, be sure you have passes at gate for them ahead of time. Also, be sure to list all guests' names on your pass. Security will not allow entrance to anyone that is not listed on your pass. You should make sure to ask your guests if they will be bringing anyone with them so you can make sure they are listed on your pass.

GUNS: Last month security had numerous complaints that their homes had been paint balled. REDBOOK RULE page 25 section L 5 states: No firearms, BB guns, pellet guns, fireworks, slingshots or other missile hurling devices may be discharged in LSA.

Parents if you have children who have paint ball guns or guns of any kind, make sure the children are aware they cannot fire them at LSA. If security catches anyone with guns they will be ticketed and the guns will be confiscated and returned to the parent.

GATE CARDS: When you receive or purchase an automatic gate card there are several rules that apply for usage of these cards. You cannot loan these cards to anyone who is not part of your current household. You cannot use a gate card if you are driving a vehicle that does not have a current LSA Decal. You cannot use the automatic gates if you are towing a trailer or boat. If you do not know the automatic gate card regulations, you can request a copy of all the rules at the LSA Office.

TORNADO AWARENESS/PREPAREDNESS

Do you know the difference between a Tornado Watch and a Tornado Warning?

The National Weather Services issues a Tornado Watch when tornados are possible in your area, when the conditions to produce a tornado are favorable. A tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar in your area.

Tornado season is generally March through August, though tornadoes can occur at any time of year.

When a tornado is coming, you have a short amount of time to seek shelter.

If you are home, seek shelter in a basement, storm cellar or lowest level of your home. If you have no basement, go to an inner hallway, small room preferably without windows. Go to the center of the room and if possible get under a heavy piece of furniture.
If you are outside, seek shelter in a building. If this is not possible lie in a ditch or low-lying area. Be sure to cover your head and neck and watch out for flying debris.

If you are in a car, get out of the vehicle immediately and take shelter in a building, ditch or any low-lying area. DO NOT try to out run a tornado.

If you are on the lake in a boat, reduce speed, put on life jackets and head for the nearest shore. If you are not able to get to shore, have all persons in boat lie on the floor in the center of boat, and anchor it. If you do get to shore seek shelter immediately.

To prepare for a tornado emergency you should have regular drills with your family. Make sure all members of your family know where the designated safe area is in your home. Have disaster supplies on hand (refer to Family Safety Plan in this months issue).

If you have any questions concerning any subject in this article, feel free to call the security department at 248-2194 extension 224 and ask for Janet.

The security guard house is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day to report any complaints or suspicious activity. The emergency number is 248-2778.
