April 2008 Security Corner Newsletter
By Janet Wise - Security Director

DECALS: Lake Summerset Security will be enforcing the display of new 2008 Decals as of APRIL 15th. If you do not have your decal displayed, be prepared to be stopped. The guards will stop you at the main gate to check for valid membership and then you will be issued a daily pass until decals are displayed. Security Patrol will also be checking the east and west card gates and issuing citations.

UNLICENSED MOTOR VEHICLES: All unlicensed motor vehicles must have new decals displayed by April 15th and be registered with LSA before driving on LSA roads. Be sure to read the REDBOOK for all rules and regulations for unlicensed motor vehicles.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS: If you are a member in good standing, the office issues you a membership card. These cards are issued to members for identification to show that you are a member at a said lot. Your children under 23 are issued a Junior membership card. You must carry this card with you if you are entering without a current decal, riding with a guest etc. The most common request for seeing your membership card will be gate guards and security patrol. Especially, if you are not familiar with them. Junior members are required carry their membership cards with them. There are many times when a Junior member will get a ride home and without their LSA member card they may not gain entrance in LSA. A lot of guards never see Junior members on a regular basis, so they cannot recognize them when they just say I live at such lot. That is the main reason why Junior members should carry their LSA membership at all times. If you do not have your children listed as Junior members, then we must consider them as guests, and they will not be allowed access to LSA until they get a pass from a member.

ROAD POSTINGS: The Winnebago County Hwy Dept. posted all county roads for weight restrictions during the spring thaw. Lake Summerset also posts roads during this period. All trucks must have weight slips before they can enter LSA. IF you are having deliveries such as Menards, Lowes furniture etc. you should advise them that the Winn. Co roads are posted and they must have a weigh slip to prove they are not overweight.

VANDALISM & BREAK INS: Sometime in February we became aware that several campers in the LSA camper storage area had been vandalized. If you have a camper or boat in LSA storage and haven’t checked them in awhile, security suggests that you come and check that nothing has been vandalized. If you have any questions about this call Janet, LSA Security Chief at 815-248-2191 ext. 224.

FAX: Reminder that the guardhouse has a fax machine and you can fax passes to the gate. Your fax is accepted at anytime for any date or dates (up to 4 consecutive days). Forms for faxing passes are available on line at www.Lake-Summerset.com. The fax number is 815-248-4236.

HIGH WATER: April is usually a very wet month, but with the strange weather pattern we have been having lately who knows. If we do have a high period of rain, be sure to watch for the high water signs at the west end. If the water is rushing and very high, security advises to take the long way around and not cross the creek.

If you have any questions concerning any subject in this article, feel free to call the security department at 248-2194 extension 224 and ask for Janet.

The security guard house is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day to report any complaints or suspicious activity. The emergency number is 248-2778.
